Chat Guidance

In-Game Chat Channel Guidance:
Each channel in game has a focus, and a general purpose. We ask that players and admins adhere to the guidance below to make our RP experience immersive, and fun! OOC means “Out Of Character”. IC means “In Character” By enclosing your text in double-parens (( )) you indicate that you’re typing OOC. Alternatives are double-brackets like [[ ]] or << >>.

Global: This is for OOC, meta, and Conan Exiles-game-related conversation. For example, “Is anyone lagging right now?”, “<<Isra posts a note in the town ‘Isra of Shem is seeking one Wombat skin and a pint of lager.’>>”, “My thrall disappeared. Can someone help?” It is generally not necessary to wrap your OOC text in the Global channel, as long as the channel remains used for it’s intended purpose. Local This is where your RP happens. Please keep conversations in Local RP, and please don’t “crash” someone’s RP here with OOC. If you must OOC here, for example “(( Be right back, cat aggro ))”, please wrap your text in double-parens.

Clan: This is for your clan! You make the rules here, but the general guidance is RP-centered. Whisper Private DM. To DM someone, use the /w command, as in: /w Isra Hey I have your Wombat. Overall: Keep RP out of Global, because a) Not everyone wants to be, or is appropriate, for, any RP you’re into at the time, b) It keeps Global free for game-related, OOC, and other non-RP all-public announcements and conversation, c) It keeps your RP your RP with much less likelihood of interruption and commentary! And finally, d) It makes it clear where RP is and isn’t happening. If there’s someone who is not in Local and you want/need them in RP, send then a /w whisper to set it up!
